John Heliker spent his summers on Great Cranberry Island in a home he purchased in 1958. Heliker studied at the Art Students League from 1927 to 1929, and he exhibited at the Kraushaar Galleries for more than 50 years. The Whitney Museum of American Art held a retrospective exhibition of his work in 1968.
